On this episode of That Girl with the Curls, Sam is joined by Rachel (Good Girls Gone Geek) and Dieter (Drunk & Sailor) to discuss the sci-fi action movie Snowpiercer.
Bringing out the inner nerd in everyone!
After all this time, the hosts and staff of A Game of Thrones Podcast finally came up with a suitable name for our show. His Grace, Joffrey of the Houses Baratheon and Lannister, the First of His Name, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm declares that from this day forward, this podcast be named It Is Known.
We had a packed house for this episode including Dieter Zimmerman, Janel McClain, Rachel Proffitt, Bex Veverka, Alexis Montclaire and hosted by Bryan the Nerd. With the group all assembled, we begin another season of Game of Thrones and if last season is any indication, we’re in for an exciting ten episodes. Now that episode one is behind us, we give you a rundown on what happened, why it happened and some insight on what will happen. Word of the Nerd‘s most popular podcast is back and better than ever!
Originally recorded to be a Holiday special, this special episode of the Game of Thrones podcast comes to you just in time for the premiere of Season 3. Dieter, Proffitt and Sean re-unite to discuss the latest of Game of Thrones news and to recap what has happened during the first two seasons. Mostly spoiler free, the gang discuss the new casting of key characters for the third season as well as where the show may end this season in comparison with the books. Near the final moments of the podcast they begin to talk spoilers for those who have read the book (so be warned!), and all share their opinions on what is shaping up to be a season full of drama, sex, violence and intrigue. Not necessarily in that order.
In this episode of Film Fans, Sean is joined by Proffitt, Dieter, Rebecca, and Sam and things quickly turn to chaos. Its a no holds bar match up between Dieter, Sam and Les Mis. Watch out Russel Crowe, these two are not too pleased with you. The group also discusses Django Unchained, and the Hobbit, which everyone enjoyed. Trailer Talk is back and everyone briefly shares their thoughts on Great Gatsby, The End of the World, and Oblivion. After, during a discussion of the Rumor Mill, the Justice League roster is discussed and Sean argues about Green Lantern with the group. Then they discuss the rumour of Quentin Tarantino’s next film which may continue the History Revenge plot line and will round out Django and Inglorious Basterds into a trilogy. Finally they end the show with a discussion of Movie Theatre Etiquette and how one should act whilst enjoying a film!
On this episode of Film Fans, Sean, Rachel and Sam discuss their favourite and least favourite Holloween movies. They also weigh in on the amount of Horror Movie reboots and spoofs that are poping up in the next year. After the horror talk though, they discuss a few movies that they saw in this weeks segment “Why Should I See It.” Sam talks Argo, Sean discusses Perks of Being a Wallflower and Seven Psychopaths, while Rachel takes the scarier movies Paranormal Activity 4 and Sinister. All of this glorious talk is capped off with an intense discussion about the Walking Dead.

Episode 8 – Vodka and the Shadow Child
The gang assemble to discuss season 2, episode 4, Garden of Bones. Amazing consensus ensues on the Douche Bag of the Week (hint: blond, 14-years old, and entirely too jacked up for his own good), and much joy is taken from the Bad Ass of the Week choices. The decision is made to try this crazy contest thing one more time, so listen for details on how to win a super cool Game of Thrones item.
Proffitt, Dieter, Corinne and Sean discuss Season 2, Episode 3: What is Dead May Never Die (although it takes them five minutes to get the title right). Much merriment is had as they cover favorite scenes, DB and Bad Ass of the week, and how the season is shaping up so far. As a bonus, they actually manage to hold off on book/show comparisons until later in the show. Huzzah!
Remember: you can enter our “Sex or Violence” contest in a few ways. Comment below, respond to one of the tweets we will send out this week, or comment on one of the posts on our Facebook page in which we ask “Which will there be more of on this week’s episode of Game of Thrones: Boobs or Blood?” We’ll tally up the results as we watch the show and a weekly winner will be chosen from among the correct answers for a shout-out on the podcast. At the end of the season, we will draw from the list of weekly winners and send one lucky listener a Game of Thrones prize! (Note: “boobs” is a general term we are using to cover all sex acts. Violence has to end in death to count as “blood”).
The gang discusses Season 2, Ep. 2 – Night Lands and gets sidetracked early by a discussion of the number and creepiness-factor of the “graphically romantic” scenes. They manage to pull it together long enough for Bad Ass and DB of the week, talk about the amazing Ghost CGI, the sad lack of dragons, and a new contest from Word of the Nerd in which you can win an as-of-yet undisclosed piece of Game of Thrones merchandise. Have a listen!
